BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Nuran Nabi obtained BS Hon's and MS degrees in Biochemistry from the Dhaka University, Bangladesh and then started his career as a lecturer of Biochemistry at the Dhaka University. He obtained his Ph. D. degree in Cell Biology from Kyushu University, Japan in 1980 and did postdoctoral research at the New York University Medical Center in New York on Molecular Biology during 1980-84.

He joined Colgate Palmolive Company Research Center as a research scientist in 1984 and subsequently promoted to Associate Director of Technology in the oral care research. Dr. Nabi's research focuses on chemical control of plaque and gingivitis in humans.

Dr. Nabi has 50 patents and 50 research publications to his credits. His break through research resulted in the development of a revolutionary multicare dentifrice known as Colgate Total for which Dr. Nabi received several awards from his company and some other organizations. He has presented advanced dentifrice technology to major dental schools in the USA as an invited speaker. After 22 years of dedicated service, recently Dr. Nabi has retired from Colgate Palmolive Company as an Associate Director of Technology.

Currently Dr. Nabi is a share holder and member of the Board of Directors of Allied Research and Photonics, Inc. He is also the President and CEO of Invent Enterprise. LLC, a consulting company.

Dr. Nabi is very much active in mainstream politics, and recently has been appointed as a Councilman of Plainsboro Township, New Jersey, USA. Earlier he has served as a member of Planning Board of Plainsboro Township for several years.

Dr. Nuran Nabi is a valiant freedom fighter of Bangladesh liberation war of 1971. He was awarded a special citation by the Commander in Chief of Bangladesh Liberation Army for his valor and outstanding contribution to Bangladesh liberation war. Additionally, the Far Eastern Economic Review, May 6 th , 1972 issue, referred to Dr. Nabi as ”the Brain” of the Tangail Freedom Fighters Forces. These forces organized themselves within the country and fought against the Pakistani forces in the district of Tangail situated only sixty miles away from Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh and the headquarters of Pakistani forces.

Dr. Nabi has written two books - "Born In Bengal" and "Bullets of '71, A Freedom Fighter's Story" on Bangladesh liberation movement and Bangladesh liberation war, respectively. He has been speaking in various forums in the USA to make awareness about the Bangladesh genocide 1971.

Dr. Nabi is involved in various investment and socio-cultural activities. He was the President and Editor of the Propbashi, a Bengali Weekly newspaper published for 12 years from New York. He is the founder and past President of a North American organization called "Federation of Bangladeshi Associations in North America (FOBANA)" which has been organizing Annual Bangladesh Conference in various cities in the USA and Canada since last 16 years. He also serves as an advisor to the board of several other socio-cultural organizations.
